Campout in Moab

We headed down to Moab this past weekend for a "warm" desert campout with the Elrod family.  We found our campsite about 30 minutes off the main road in the Canyonlands' National Park territory.  It was a great campsite adjacent to some amazing rocks and scenery.
We spent Friday night setting up camp, cooking dinner, and making s'mores.

Saturday morning, Bill cooked up a yummy breakfast of egg burritos, bacon, hash browns and o.j.

Will, Noelle and Bentley

We spent Saturday morning in Arches National Park.  We hiked all of the easy hikes...Delicate Arch, Skyline Arch, etc.  The kids did great!  We had so much fun!  It was already 90 degrees by noon so we called it quits and went into Moab to have some lunch and ice cream.

We had a wonderful, but crazy busy Easter.  The kids woke up and found that the Easter bunny had indeed paid us a visit.  They hunted for all the Easter eggs and then found their baskets.  They got books, summer toys, and one single chocolate bunny each.  Bill and I spoke on the Resurrection in Sacrament.  Following church, we had all our family over for Easter dinner.  It was honestly so great to be able to host all the family on a holiday...I don't think we've ever been able to do that before.  It was great - crazy - but great!

Getting the oil changed

I try to do all sorts of fun activities with the kids....the zoo, swimming, the park, dance parties, the dinosaur museum, storytime, etc... HOWEVER, nothing comes even close to getting the same elated reaction from my kids as going to the carwash or getting the oil changed.  Will (and apparently Olivia) are so fascinated with it!!  We got our oil changed today, and when we left, Will said excitedly, "Man Mom that was SO fun!"  And there ya have it!  Who needs expensive outings when you can just invest in good car maintenance and it doubles as fabulous kid entertainment!

Will has been asking to paint his bookshelf for a long time now.  So, I finally stripped them down to grubbies and undies and let them go to town!  What a mess, but at least they had fun!
