We've been flocked

Woke up to this...50 hot pink flamingos that were delivered to our yard overnight as a surprise from our good friends! Such a good start to the day!

Such a big helper

We're in the process of making Will's room into a big-boy room modeled after his all-time favorite thing - choo choos!! (pictures to come) So, I had Will help me paint a magnet board and shelf that I got him. He loved it, and it made him that much more excited to hang them on his wall. I am probably nuts for giving a 2 year old a can of red paint, a paint brush, and letting him paint on just a towel on my tile floor, BUT I kept a close watch on him and he did awesome and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. We both got a little paint on our bods, but it's nothing a good tubby can't fix.

He is very serious in this one...

Bishop Menlove

Over the last few days, we have been mourning the loss of our dear friend, Mitch Menlove. Not only was Mitch our trusted spiritual advisor and Bishop, but he was a professional mentor to Bill and a lifelong friend to the Knowlton family. Mitch and Elizabeth were the closest thing we had to family here in Arizona - and it feels as though we've lost a brother.

We had the honor of attending his funeral this morning in Central Phoenix; and it was one of the most spiritual experiences of our lives. The church building was completely full of people; indicative of how influential and loved Mitch was. Every major dignitary in the State, including the governor, secretary of state, and speaker of the house attended. Also, the majority of the Phoenix East Stake was in attendance along with all of his close friends and family.

The Spirit was so strong during the entire meeting. While it was one of the saddest experiences we have ever had, it was also one of the most inspiring and humbling. Our hearts are breaking at the loss of this great man whom we loved so much, and we are equally sad for his sweet family. Despite the diverse audience, all of the speakers bore their testimony about Mitch's Christlike example, the reality of the plan of salvation, and of our Savior's atonement. Mitch truly tried to emulate the Savior in every aspect of his life.

Mitch, we love you and appreciate the tremendous influence for good you've had in our lives.

Helaman 5:12 - And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.

Happy Birthday!!

This last week Bill turned 32! His official birthday was on Wednesday, so we met him at work for lunch and then I made him his favorite homemade meal, and then we had the yummiest (homemade) chocolate texas sheet cake with vanilla bluebell ice cream.

Then the real celebration happened this last Saturday. I got all of his really good friends plus their significant others to meet us for dinner at Tia Rosa's in Mesa. After dinner, we went to Nielsen's for dessert. It was so good to celebrate with all of our good friends!!

Hope you had a happy birthday babe!! We love you!!
(We honestly had so much fun that I forgot to take pics!!)

Bill and Will painting the nursery

Bill has been working diligently on finishing the nursery before the baby's arrival, and he has his little helper by his side every step of the way!!

4th of July

We had a really fun 4th of July weekend. We went to Mesa's Celebration of Freedom on Saturday night to see the fireworks. On Sunday night, we had a BBQ with good friends and on Monday we worked on the nursery (pics to come).
